Each candidate is tested in 4 areas of golf instruction and development. Each candidate must pass 4 out of 4 areas (minimum 70% each area) or a combined total of 75% to receive a PGTCA membership.Unsuccessful candidates receive apprentice status.

AREA 1

Playing Ability Test

• Shoot 78 or below =100%
• Shoot 79 = 97%
• Shoot 80 = 94%
• Shoot 81 = 91%
• Shoot 88 = 70% etc.

AREA 3

Oral Teaching Ability Test 70% or above passes

The oral teaching ability test is designed to rate the students communication skills along with golf knowledge. Each candidate must score 70 out of 100.

AREA 2

Written Teaching Test – 70% or above passes

The written teaching test is based on multiple choice, matching, and essay questions with a total possible of 500 points. Each candidate must score 350 out of 500.

AREA 4

Grades are given daily in four areas. 70% or above passes

• Class Participation
